On January 13 at Asia Society in New York, Chinese artists Xi Ban and Pi Huang Club took the stage mixing classical Chinese instrumentation with Western form to accompany the film Sever, which puts a character from the ancient Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms in a modern setting. The performance, titled Shanghai/New York: Future Histories 2, appealed to diverse audiences with its mix of the modern and traditional, as well as Chinese and American styles.
