QUERY> Looking for a better manuscript of Huiyuan's (523-592) Dasheng qixin lun yishu

Dear Colleagues,
I have been reading a commentary on the Awakening of Mahayana Faith, written by the famous scholar-monk Huiyuan (523-592) of Jingying Temple. The Taisho version of this text (Dasheng qixin lun yishu, T 44, no. 1843), however, contains some unusual characters. It also seems to include incorrect punctuations, which renders the text almost unintelligible.
For instance, the following passage from this commentary is quite difficult for me to understand.
《大乘起信論義疏》卷1:「是故復出馬鳴菩薩。愍傷眾生拕非人流。感[@]佛出極意潛沒。」(CBETA, T44, no. 1843, p. 176, a6-7)
Here the character [@] (http://yedict.com/zscontent.asp?uni=1F0888) seems to be a variant form of the character hui (*), which means a "big head."
But the sentence "愍傷眾生拕非人流。感[@]佛出極意潛沒" does not make sense, even if we take this reading. I suspect that the punctuation here is also incorrect.
Can anyone provide me with a better manuscript so that I can read the passage in question correctly? And if possible, would you please let me know of any available translation (English, Japanese, Modern Chinese, whatever) of the Dasheng qixin lun yishu?

Huiyuan's commentary is included in the Bukkyō taikei (佛教大系) publication of the Awakening of Faith along with Wonhyo and Fazang's commentaries. I have never compared the punctuation in this edition with the Taishō version, but I prefer to use the taikei simply because it includes the commentaries with the main text. The first edition of the taikei is out of print and difficult to find, but there are more recent reprinting available. I believe that the Awakening of Faith in is volume one of the series.
There is an English translation of Fazang's commentary, but I am not aware of any others.

I hope this helps, and I am also curious to know if there any other studies of Awakening of Faith commentaries.

Dear Seunghak,
I would be happy to learn I am wrong, but I believe there is only a single ms. of the Huiyuan QIxinlun comm. extant, so any printed edition -- unless it practices some sort of redaction -- will contain exactly the same characters.There is no "better" edition. His commentary in places has the appearance of having once been two separate works, one following the root text closely, and the other an expansion on the first commentary. (Cf. Wonhyo's comms.) At some point these were fused together, so that only a single comm. remains.
As for punctuation, Taisho punctuation is infamous, however in the passage you cite, the punctuation seems fine. I would suggest ignoring the "@" and simply read the unusual character as , and the passage -- including what comes before and after in the text -- makes perfect sense. Asvaghosa is afraid that Buddha's real intent and meaning is being lost in the world. Ergo he writes the Qixinlun.
There is no English translation -- yet.
